Industry Practice: Research on Anxiety
Many people worry about things such as health, money, or family problems. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear.
Anxiety is something that stays with you and does not leave and can even get worse over time. This can affect everyday life, including education, work and social environments. [anon]
The anxiety I was researching is social anxiety: The fear of social situations including the feelings of embarrassment and judgement.
I have experience with people who have social anxiety through real life scenarios and friendships I have with them. Although it may not be true, some will believe that others are judging behind the scenes or are possibly focusing on them when it is clearly not the case in my eyes.
Social Anxiety can affect:
- Self-Confidence
- Relationships
- Mental Health
- Education
- Work Opportunities
For our group project, we are creating a game that would incorporate an online therapy session and I believe that social anxiety was a good example that could be depicted and reach a target audience that may understand as it is a common thing in modern day from my own personal experience.
