Industry Practice: Role

Image
2D Lead Artist As the 2D Lead Artist, my role for my group is to delegate the work within the group, observe and give the final say on the art for the game we are creating. As a lead artist, I must also work on maintaining a schedule and ensure that the visual art is consistent. However, within the past months, I have realised my shortcomings when it came to this role. I haven't been maintaining a consistent schedule with my peers due to both real life and other projects in other classes. BUT. this is not an excuse. Another issue that I have noticed was the lack of communication from not only me, but my peers too. Three of them haven't reached out or have been seen in a number of weeks which will naturally lead to complications. This would require me to either reach out or pick up the workload on their end.

Building Alliances: The items within a Medpack

Image
I've made further developments on the models that I have been experimenting with. Of course, with a medkit comes possible medicines whether liquid or solid such as pills. I figured it was best to incorporate them in some sort of way. - Created a separate medkit with a different colour scheme, very simple changes. I had also included cotton buds as they are typically used for wounds and not for the ears as people do today. Attempted at creating smaller slots for them to fit in. ISSUE: When rendering the model, it begins to break apart/corrupt which I am unsure on how to resolve. Worst case scenario, I will remove these indents and instead, create a hollow box with different segments walled off.

Toolkit 3D: Catch-up

Image
Due to me missing two lectures of Toolkit 3D, I asked my lecturer if I could take part in the other classes 3D class so I can catch up on my work and I will display what I was taught. ZModeler: ZModeler is a versatile toolset for polygonal modeling, perfect for creating hard-surface objects. It offers handy features like Extrude, Crease, Offset, Bridge, and Divide, giving you full control to shape and refine your models. NOTE:  ZModeler is used via the Brush menu: [B]>[Z]>[M] OR Hold[SPACEBAR] ALSO Using ZModeler requires Polyshift tool: [Shift] + [F] https://now.ntu.ac.uk/d2l/le/content/1076276/viewContent/13315908/View LINK TO SLIDE TO REFER BACK TO:

Building Alliances: Progress on 3D Models and where to go from here

Image
Visual Progress of models: I can see the flaws in my own work with certain details lacking or no high poly developments. Even if I had other distractions and other projects to work on. I should take time to focus on assisting my group as the lead 3D Artist. For a summary, I have been working on a number of different models such as: - Safe - Gas Tank - Medkits - Currently working on a syringe for the medkit I have also been able to import my model into Unreal. As for my next steps with the amount of time I have, I will focus on developing models even further. All while taking the opportunity to work on 2D Concept art for loading pages as an example.
