Week 8: The Games Market + Diversity and Equality
Notes:
- The Labour market refers to the supply and demand for Labour in the Economy.
- It is the place where employers and employees interact to buy and sell labour services.
Sure! Here's a slightly shorter version:
The labour market is where workers and employers interact—it's the system where labour is bought and sold.
How it works:
-
Employers want to hire workers.
-
Workers seek jobs for wages.
They meet to negotiate job terms like pay and hours.
Key concepts:
-
Supply of labour = People looking for work
-
Demand for labour = Jobs employers need filled
-
Wages = The price of labour
-
Unemployment = Job seekers without work
-
Underemployment = Not enough work or skills underused
Influences:
-
Skills and education
-
Technology
-
Government policies
By 2020, total UK video games revenue (£5.5bn) is expected to overtake total spend on books
3 facts to influence/justify your game design decisions:
1. Visual Novels Market Value:
The global Visual Novel Games market is projected to grow from US$ 515 million in 2024 to US$ 919 million by 2030, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.1% during the forecast period.
Therefore, it seems visual novels already have a naturally high interest value so it would be reasonable to work on designing a game of this genre.
2. Work load
Compared to other games like 3rd Person Shooters, creating a visual novel is frankly a lot easier and would require a smaller size team. Therefore, less money spent on paying workers and overall, if it were to be sold, would be ideal money-wise.
3. Genre
Although it isn't the popular genres such as romance novels or horror. This Visual Novel is inspired by therapy with dr albert krueger. A reasonable popular Visual novel that is more of a horror but also therapy session. We have taken the therapy approach for our game that would address the features of mental health and perhaps impact certain audiences.
